I have been using Interlux Perfection varnish, which is a 2 part polyurethane, but I don't spray it, I roll and tip it. It give an extremely glossy finish and is 10 times harder than regular varnish. I also have a supplied air respirator that I use when applying it just to stay on the safe side. An argument can be made that I have lost significant amounts of brain cells, and one could infer that is because of my proximity to this product. One would then also have to assume I was in possession of those brain cells to begin with, which is not a given. As for repair, I have done a repair on the keel of my iggy which was removed by my son when he was playing in 8 foot lake Michigan waves among a rock garden, a pastime I have suggested to him is, perhaps, not the most wise. It seems this lack of braincell thing could be hereditary and not from chemical exposure. Anyway, After glass, 3 coats of Perfection blended right into the old, so I'm not sure why guys say you can't repair damage without re-doing the entire boat. Having said that, my next boat is going to be sprayed in a body shop since I still get a few sags and runs no matter how many different ratios of thinner I try. I can get it sprayed for between $250 and $300; I'll post the pictures and make comments on how well this turns out.
