: Heat and bond works fine, but it helps much if the frame is
: varnished or painted first, the tape doesn't stick to bare wood
: all that well.
: Depends on what material you're using but the heat-n-bond tape
: doesn't stick the fabric to itself well enough that I'd want to
: trust it on the water used alone. You can use contact cement for
: that (sticking the fabric from the deck to the hull), and that
: has the advantage that it flows with heat after it's set up
: hard, so any wrinkles can be ironed out using a household
: clothes iron.

Bill, thanks for the tips on using the HeatNBond. The fabric I'm using is 8oz polyester weave that I ordered from George Dyson. I didn't mention that I'm also fastening the fabric with a groove in the gunwales. Once the edges of the fabric are pushed into the groove with a windows sash/screen tool a polyester cord and epoxy will be pushed into to hold it all.
I know I'm adding more work than necessary. But I already have all the tools and material. I hope the pic below makes sense. BTW, My gunwales are 1 1/2 inch high by 1" wide. I'm always open to more suggestions.

Bob,
Thanks for link. I thought I was the only person who had thought of this.
