This reminds me of a time back when I was still flying. I had a friend up for a trip around the valley. We were about 10 miles outside the controlled airspace for the military airport nearby. We were heading across the floor of the valley when I say two grey specs heading for me from the bay. They got way bigger way quick. Two CF-18's broke left in front of us before I could begin a collision avoidance turn and dive to the right, or fill my pants. We could see the rivets in their wingsas they went toward the airport. I figure they had me on their radar the whole time and were playing 'scare the civilian' for kicks. Quite a sight.
