I prefer shorter strips and also prefer they don't fall on the forms. Easy to use a spring clamp to keep the ends aligned and to hold two strip ends together. To me it's harder to keep the strips aligned when they fall on the form. Most definately want to stager the end, much like building a brick wall, weak if the joints all match up.
