Bill- I think it's a great idea if you can make it work. There's a lady in my paddling club that always brings her Australian Shepard along for the ride on the back deck. She puts a piece of carpet on the deck and he lays on it. He's obviously pretty well trained to do this. I've got 3 English Setters and have tried bringing them each along on seperate occasions in the bottom of my Gentry 15' Chuckanut. But...... being bird dogs who hunt religiously, it doesn't even come close to working. Any duck, goose, herron, etc gets their blood pumping and they are up and prancing around in the boat. After a few minutes of pure torture of them not being able to do anyting about the birds, they lose it and jump out of the boat and as you can imagine, nearly capsize me each time. I've given up on that idea, but may try again years down the road when they've calmed down a little.....
