Thanks for the advice. I was kind of thinking along those lines. The coaming lip is made of rope lashed to the wood coaming, so I would probably have to cut it off first and replace it since the overall circumference of the coaming is likely to change. I just want it to hold out through this summer, after which I plan on completely re-skinning it.
