I also cut PVC on the table saw. I usually 2 holes drill holes near either end, one big enough for my drill's screw-driver extension and one just big enough for a drywall screw.
I can then screw the PVC to a 2x3 from Home Depot or Lowes, and then run it through with feather boards, etc just like a piece of wood.
the screw is never near the blade.
Sometimes if I'm drilling out a strip, I'll stop before the end.
I used to be nervous too but this method works pretty good. If I just need a few strips I'll hand hold a long piece and only go about half the length.
If you cut a lot, wear a good mask, PVC and ABS are probably not good to breathe in (unlike the clear health benefits of cedar and epoxy dust....)

: For closing the open end of dry-type bags, I'm using a 'C and tube'
: type closure.
: PVC water pipe (1/2 and 3/4) provided the materials.
: Be very careful cutting the 'slot' to make the 'C' . I used spots
: of hot-melt glue to attach the tube to the side of a 2x4. It
: keeps the cut straight and makes it a bit less nerve-wracking to
: cut on the table saw.
