No argument from me, it's always best to use the proper tool, and a good-quality table saw comes ready to use with accurate scales and fence whereas a skilsaw needs extra bits and pieces to do the same job. The table saw is faster and - as supplied - skilsaw is good only for hackwork.

But my point is, with a little prep work you CAN do the same job for less money in a smaller space with a skilsaw without compromising quality. My post was intended to provide the information needed by others who have to go that route.

Because hand-held power saws are so cheap and compact, I have two for boatbuilding - permanently setup for stripping and ply - and a cheapy for general work. Total cost with two finish-quality blades (only one uses the blade supplied) about $170 at Canadian prices, about the cost of a tablesaw of questionable quality around here but the blade would then have to be replaced with a quality one.
