- that's what I suspected; I'll go with the varnish and save on sandpaper! My joinery on this boat is decent; just need to run a scraper over the inside to remove the glue, the insides of the strips themselves have already been planed so are smooth, the edge misalignments are less than 1/64" and will just add character under the varnish! the outside is fair and it won't need much work to get it smooth, which I think is more important under paint, even semi-gloss.

This one is Rose Lee: I think I mentioned it before; it's a ply/strip hybrid so it's only a semi-stripper really, hence the name - from Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous stripper who only went half-way . . .
