No need to fret. I've drilled a little, use needle nose pliers. Pushing and pulling will loosen it up.
Anything you can do to grab on and work it will loosen it up, stretch it,

A little heat might work, but the temps at which the epoxy & glass start to get wonky are close to the glue stick temps.

At the worst it's a do over. Drill it out and do it over. Glue sticks leading to teflon tape was my contribution, so I've done it all.

Definitely teflon tape is the ticket. I was just cleaning up my shop and found a couple of my mini glue sticks with the teflon tape that I'd used. I can use them again. They're pristine. The tape slides really well.

I used hot glue sticks with two coats of Partall Paste #2 as a mold
: release. Of the 16 fittings the glue stick pulled right out in
: 14 of them. That leaves 2 fittings with broken glue stick ends
