I will glass the coaming on both sides but not the riser (plywood that supports the coaming). The riser only gets thickened epoxy underneath and I fill the joint around it with thickened epoxy to add more holding strength between it and the deck. You can probably get away with using no glass on the coaming, the plywood is pretty tough stuff but personally I feel better using the glass on my boats.
