Hello Al,

The spar is just temporary. To make shipping of the kit easier I suggested that Brad route it to accept a standard nominal 2x4 which will be 13 feet long. The hull is glassed in and out like a kayak and the hard chines add ridgidity. For their other surfboard kits you get a shaped spar that stays in the board with the frame but surfboards do not have the keel line and chines like this to add ridgidity.

The original plan was to leave deck beams in where you stand for added support. Likely I will just leave a few forms in as bulkheads below the aft deck. I do plan to have day hatches although this is a racing design. I want to be able to carry water and snorkel gear in mine, and hopefully the occasional lobster!
