There are a couple of ways to deal with the hull/deck join.

The long board method, if it is parallel to the floor, sands the edge of the deck to fit the hull. that is done after the stripping is complete.

The "sheer bevel" method takes about half off each. That is usually done before the strips are fitted.

Either way works.
