Hi Mike,
I am about to introduce a cheater or two, of sorts.I have stripped from the shear 5 x 20 mm wide strips plus 3 x 10 mm at the shear using a heat gun to take most of the stress out in the bow and stern[This is very easy to do].My "cheating" strips will actually be for the whole length of the boat,starting off wide at the stems ,tapering to half strip width and a second full strip down to a quarter in the mid section and then back to full width at the other end.This is actually to help approach the mid ship chines on my build with a special narrow width part of the strip in this section so I can then roll around the chine with the narrow part of the strips ,with big bevel angles.The bow and stern part of the same strip will be wide as there is no need to roll the strip in these places.It's not really cheating though as I have mastered the heat gun any way[you should too]...This way I can fill up the boat ends with full width strips.Otherwise I would be using narrow strips ,full length to go round a chine that is only in the middle of the boat....Cheers from Paul .NZ
