Yes, I was quite surprised that they were not quarter-sawn. I am thinking those would be quite flexy side to side. I realize the standing rigging works to prevent that, but still I expected quarter-sawn. They at least served their purpose for quite some time. In fact I believe had they not sat on the beach for so long they probably could have been salvaged as masts. If someone happened to know a person needing that exact size of mast I'm sure they could have brought a pretty penney. As is, I am very pleased just to have saved them from being worthless for anything. It is really going to be cool to give them new life on the water in many different craft.
