Amazing photo my buddy Phil snapped last night at the bat cave.

There is a large cave on the river just above Guntersville Dam. You can see the lights on the dam in the background. The cave is a nursery for Gray bats. They breed and then the females move here and raise the young. It is a popular place in the summer to for boaters to gather and watch the bats emerge. During the full moon we try to paddle down and watch. They come out of the cave for 15+ minutes. Thousands of them.

I don't care how many times I go. I will never get used to be buzzed by a bat. I know they will not hit me but I still flinch every time!
