: Amazing photo my buddy Phil snapped last night at the bat cave.

: There is a large cave on the river just above Guntersville Dam. You
: can see the lights on the dam in the background. The cave is a
: nursery for Gray bats. They breed and then the females move here
: and raise the young. It is a popular place in the summer to for
: boaters to gather and watch the bats emerge. During the full
: moon we try to paddle down and watch. They come out of the cave
: for 15+ minutes. Thousands of them.

: I don't care how many times I go. I will never get used to be
: buzzed by a bat. I know they will not hit me but I still flinch
: every time!

I never get to Alabama anymore but that cave has been on my list for awhile if I ever do get back there. Great picture.
