The only thing I would offer since it is a S & G is just fill the indentation with epoxy and forget the glass - it's not needed. Cut out the bubble, feather the edges and sand the blister area and flood it with epoxy to level it. I think trying to do a little glass patch will only create more hassle and you gain nothing.
