This is my first post on this forum.

This week I finally launched my winter project, a Hybrid Night Heron. What a boat?!

I had test-paddled a number of kayaks at last year's OkoumeFest. Though I had actually thought that I would be building the Hybrid Shearwater 17, once I sat in the Night Heron I was smitten.

And today I had it out in all white-caps, 20 - 25 knots of wind in Moraine State Park (Western PA) - a new experience since my previous paddling was generally accomplished on a 12' plastic boat only when there were not enough wind to go sailing.
Downwind was a slay-ride! Wow.

This is my first kayak build. The previous winter I built a S&G 11'6" sailing / rowing pram called Passagemaker Dinghy.
