: This week I finally launched my winter project, a Hybrid Night
: Heron. What a boat?!

: I had test-paddled a number of kayaks at last year's OkoumeFest.
: Though I had actually thought that I would be building the
: Hybrid Shearwater 17, once I sat in the Night Heron I was
: smitten.

: And today I had it out in all white-caps, 20 - 25 knots of wind in
: Moraine State Park (Western PA) - a new experience since my
: previous paddling was generally accomplished on a 12' plastic
: boat only when there were not enough wind to go sailing.
: Downwind was a slay-ride! Wow.

: This is my first kayak build. The previous winter I built a S&G
: 11'6" sailing / rowing pram called Passagemaker Dinghy.
