I've put in a lot of hours with a pneumatic sander (on wood-epoxy project) and never had a problem with oil.
As Bill says, minimal oil at the tool end is one key.
Another is a proper air setup with water/oil traps & filters, and good compressor maintenance.

Pneumatic sanders wouldn't be the 'tool of choice' in industry if they had an inherent oil-spitting problem.
