: box to hold the block of foam and stake it to the lawn, the
: angle grinder can grab the foam and toss it a long ways, takes
: far less time to carve it if you don't have to keep chasing it
: around the yard :)

I agree with you Bill. A neighbour has several old tractors! (We're all different.)
so for my first build, I borrowed the seat from an old Fordson Major, c1960.
Covered it with cling film, (I'm not sure what you call it on your side of the pond),
then laid in five or six sheets of glass with thickened West 105/207, and just cut
the edges to fit the boat. Everyone who has tried it has found it quite OK. Even
suits my bony old back end!! I'll use that seat as a pattern for my new build.
