I suggest watching nicks video on you tube or in his blog section on guillemot kayaks website, when he stripped his petral. He uses a heat gun and blisters the laminate of the wood and continues the peeling with a putty knive underneath and gentle force while heating looks to be pretty straight forward although I hope to never have to do it.
