The size guidelines don't really work for the above average in height or for those that are shorter than average....and they are only to get you into the ball park. a lot is determined by what you like as far as a paddling style and exactly what cut you will be using to make your paddle. I know that doesn't really answer the question you asked....but without knowing a lot more about how you paddle and what size hands and how much grip on the water you want....there is really not a very good way to answer.
