Thanks Robert! It's a Bear Mountain Boats Redbird, 17'6" long. I haven't paddled one before, from what I understand it's pretty fast, but requires some experience due it's somewhat low initial stability. Also, it tends to weathercock with the tall stern and bow, but I really don't care as long as it looks cool and gets me where I want to go :-) The feature strip was a bit of a pain and took me about 10 hours to do since it's 780 individual pieces of redwood and aspen, but I'm glad I did it, the look would be sort of vanilla without it. I put some Padauk on the exterior stems to dress them up a bit, I have had this board for about 2 years and I use Padauk on all my boats to try and get rid of it, I'm alergic to the fine dust. I have to wear a dust mask for about 2 weeks after cutting or sanding this wood to be able to work in the shop.
