I don't want to get into the engineering of glass vs. epoxy alone. I just know that every time I take a bruise on a dark hull, I get a white spot that I feel I have to repair because it looks so terrible. That's the shattered glass fibers. Whereas an epoxy coated surface will not do that. I need the glass because I'm talking about a stripper hull of soft wood. This is why I use pine on the underside of my boats. It's a bit harder and doesn't show the scratches and dings as much.
