I just bought a few here http://www.magnet4sale.com/disc-ndfeb-neodymium-magnets/ I have bought from them before, they're very reasonable. I use 1/2" discs, but some guys use 3/4"

I try and keep them about 2.5 inches apart, so the amount of magnets I use varies depending on the hatch size. I usually end up with about 20 per hatch, 1/16" in the hatch, 1/8" in the lip. I use 3/16" strips so I don't want to get too close to the deck surface.
