: On the Petrel that I am working on I used Behlen chestnut dye.

Other colors nice too. Built a Petrel a couple of years ago with their blue tint on the hull.
It's worth doing a test of the dye on scrap wood with epoxy and varnish over it, as these can add a considerable yellow - amber tint.
The blue dye ended up with a slight greenish tint that I like, but I can see where some dye colors would respond less pleasingly.
