From roughly April through November I paddle for anywhere from 1.5 to ? hours every day, and this is where I launch most often. It's a little-known public boat ramp about ten minutes from home that I've been using for upwards of forty years (I've lived in the area all my 52 years). The Clear Creek watershed is pretty darn expansive, and the whole thing connects to the sea via the little Kemah-Seabrook Channel into Upper Galveston Bay. The mouth of the channel is generally a churning washing machine of fun, and normal conditions are 3- to 4-foot very closely spaced waves or chop. It's a great training ground, a great play ground, and for some reason I can never understand, it's all mine. I'm the only sea kayaker I ever see.
Cool idea, OP, thanks for posting! I participated mostly to learn a new trick with Google Earth (copying viewing coordinates), and to see if anyone else from this area pipes up. I may be the only Texan here, and if not, will certainly be interested in seeing who else is.
