Weight / stiffness ratio

In Response To: S&G: Aluminium possible (Joaquin Knierim)
Plywood is just so much stiffer for it's weight compared to aluminum. To equal the stiffness of the wood that is used in common S & G building the aluminum would get quite heavy. You would have to go around that with stiffening structure adding more weight etc. When you really analyze it: wood is an incredible construction material.
