: Anyone have any thoughts on using five minute epoxy for Maroske
: Fittings using teflon tape. I hate to waste a whole batch of
: epoxy.
I use G5 all the time for when I need to glue somethig up quickly. When you say using teflon tape, do you mean wetting out the tape with it, or do you mean using the tape to temporarily hold them in until the epoxy cures? One issue I have had with G5 is that G5 does not absorb into the wood as well as "regular" epoxy. I quit using it to glue stuff up before wetting out because what happens is that when you wet the wood out for glassing the areas with G5 have not absorbed as much epoxy (because G5 is thicker) and they turn out as light spots.
In the above I refer to West System's G5 five-minute epoxy, but I am sure the same would go for other brands.
