Dave,

I made several canoe paddles last year using Kurt's "Bird's Mouth" shaft and they came out great and have been on quite a few trips. My 54" canoe paddles came in at 14.5 oz so are really light.

I've been pondering using the same technique to build a euro kayak paddle but have concerns about getting blade angles appropriate since most euro paddles have some curve from blade tip back to the shaft. My thought was to starve an octagonal plug for the end of the shaft that would go about 6" into the birds mouth and then be carved to a shape similar to what Is typical on a euro.

Please take pics and let us know how you deal with the blade attachment.
