I used wood flour thickened epoxy to glue the wood fittings to the deck.

The failure was in the epoxy. I may not have sanded the contact points on the
deck before gluing.

I was also at a boat show in the summer in an asphalt parking lot.

In any case, I would not use glued fittings because if they can fail they will
when you most need them. And deck fittings that cannot be removed,
make it impossible to get a smooth even new coat of varnish.
