Good discussion here. I like the padeyes enough that I went and bought some CF tape to play with. Perhaps screw-n-glue is the way to go- get the best of both worlds. I just like the idea of low profile and you can make them to the size/shape you need. I need to make a new bracket for my rudder so maybe I will use CF. There are a lot of little parts we could fabricate with the stuff and get it just the way we want it rather than off-the-shelf solutions.
