Douglas, if all you are wanting to do is get a consistant thickness of your already made strips call around to some cabinet shops in your area. They will probably be willing to run your strips through their planner or even better their drum sander, (better finish, I just ran some walnut through mine because they were about 3/32 " too thick, came out perfect and took 15 min. maybe), with a 24 to 48" drum sander you can run a bunch through at one time. Should be able to finish the entire batch in no time. The cost will be way less than $400.00.
