A cheaper (and 'blacker') option instead of graphite is to use black iron oxide powder mixed with epoxy. (Bjorn Thommason suggested this, and I've tried it and it works.) The iron oxide is available from eBay in Canada/US. In Ireland?? You may need to get it from a lab supply, which will boost the price.

If you want to make the coating 'tougher', mix in some fumed silica additive aka Cabosil aka 'No-Sag'. The original graphite recommendation from WEST epoxy included the silica, and it's the silica that makes the coating tough, not the graphite.

About your blistering problem: If the glass is lifted away from the wood (a lot) it is more than a cosmetic problem as you will eventually end up with water penetration.
