When I built my 19' Shearwater Baidarka, I was meticulous about mixing my thickened epoxy to match the colour of the Okume and the Mahogany cutwater and skeg. Mixed pine, cedar, and I don't know what other types of wood flour, and got it looking really good, almost a perfect match. 10 or so years down the road the Okume and mahogany has faded under my multiple coats of spar varnish, the wood flour thickened epoxy has not faded at all and is much darker now.

The boat still paddles like a dream, has carried me safely on many an adventure, and I'm as proud of it as the day I finished it. It's just not as pretty as it used to be. Get it close and enjoy paddling your boat.
