I'm surprised that I don't see more imitations of the Mariner sliding-seat setup (seat is connected to footpegs with aluminum bar so they move with the seat).
It works really well and you can adjust it with a bit of a 'hop' in your seat as you are paddling.
You do need to use a spraydeck with extra slack in the tunnel to allow your movement.

The Mariner hulls are possibly more responsive than most to trim adjustment, but the sliding seat certainly works as advertised. (And, the heavier the paddler, the better it works..good news for the larger folks.)
And, a sliding seat is a lot less hassle than installing and maintaining a skeg, IMO.
