Agree completely. When I bead-and-coved my strips I would set up my shaper with one bit and the stock feeder and then repeat for the other side. It was about the only way I could get 100% uniform beads and coves. For my bright boats I put a 2.5 degree bevel on most of my strips. That alone does wonders. Very few strips need a lot of planing with the old low-angle block plane. On the painted boats I use mostly square-edged strips (like Bjorn Thomasson but edge glued). That's just too easy...
