Warning to those looking at packing tape. Some packing tape can leave a mess of residue as well. Same for duck tape. Don't ask how I know...
I now use mostly simple masking tape. 1" wide. I use the cheap stuff in areas where there's not a lot of tension and the 3M green stuff for... areas of increased tension. No residue issues.
