Some of the hot glue sticks sold in craft shops seem to be 'low-temperature' type (perhaps to keep kids from burning themselves??).
I use no-name 'Heavy duty' glue sticks from the hardware store (Canadian Tire), and they have to be really hot to melt.
(I have the scars to prove it....)
