I don't know if any of you remember, but I had a quandary about seat location in the Pole Dancer, so I made the cockpit a little longer than usual at 26 inches, in case I had to move the seat forward.

It is just as well that I did, as the boat lea-cocked in big seas and was a chore to quarter upwind. I moved the seat three inches forward and the boat is more lively in the turns and weathercocks a little now.

I will probably end up with the seat position about two inches forward of the expected location. It just goes to show how critical a couple of inches can be in this regard. I would guess that even body shape and sitting posture could have a noticeable effect.

If anyone has a boat that is feeling a bit off it may be useful to move the seat around a bit.

BTW, I have been going out frequently on my regular 12km circle around the islands, and in calm conditions the Pole Dancer seems to cruise at around 8.3kph with me as the engine. I am pleased with that. I am sure a younger fitter guy would push it faster.
