Hi Smith (?),
I used the Skinboats.com nylon and goop over a tung oiled frame a few years ago. I thinned the first coat of tung oil and thought it had dried when I put on the skin. The oil spread out into the nylon from the dowels that pinned the ribs!
So I used washing up liquid and water to try and remove it, rinsing out the detergent with more water. I wet the nylon again to apply a Jacquard acid dye and to tighten the skin before coating.
I failed to remove the oil stain and have a row of pale patches along the gunwale where the stain was resisted. Tried to produce a mottled stain so more imperfections didn't really matter. More patina. Skin is tight and waterproof.
Best picture I can find below. This was not the colour I was aiming for. :¬)
. . . . Ben
(does this help? not sure! anyway)
