Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement to invest in Nick's book. Chattanooga is a whitewater town (no, the Tennessee River no longer has any rapids anywhere near being near to anyplace near to Chattanooga but when Atlanta hosted the summer Olympics the whitewater events were held about 45 minutes east of town) so I doubt anyone would consider a book on strip built sea kayaks a "good use of funds" for a "cash-strapped library system" (don't get me started...). But I will check and if they don't have it I will see what I can pick one up for (although, given all the tools my wife has bought for me on this project I was probably technically over-budget before I bought the first fastener).

Someone once said that a boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into. I didn't think that was the case with kayaks but I am beginning to think it might be.
