Just finished varnishing my Pinguino with Flagship and wonder how long I should wait before launching.
A few points re. my first varnishing experience:
- I am forever grateful to those who suggest roll and tip - it works really well
- I found foam rollers were better than lint-free
- added some Penetrol and the task was not too hard (took a while but building up coats does)
- left the kayak for one year suspended in my garage and was shocked to see that the side facing the door had "strap marks" due to the wood fading over the rest of the kayak - I figured if it was out of the sun it was safe - wrong!
I am also wondering if suspending it will cause issues with the varnish finish - any ideas to prevent marking the finish? I realize it is "sacrificial" but it would be nice for it to last a little while - it looks great right now.
