I have used both the Sea-Lect True course and the Smart Trac rudders both are good rudders. The Sea-Lect has the coolest retraction, it just slips up onto the back deck. The Smart Trac has the best cable mechanism, very easy to adjust. The Sea-Lect Rudder Control Footbraces are what I like most in a footbrace control. The best for racing are the Surf Ski footbrace which offers the best platform for the leg pumping needed for the wing paddle race stroke. So now that I didn't help with deciding let me also add the carbon rudder plan from One Ocean Kayak http://www.oneoceankayaks.com/kayakrudder.htm will produce a beautiful carbon rudder at a great price. I have one I built waiting on a kayak to be attached to. If you are building a Mystery it would be awesome with your own hand made carbon Rudder. Don't forget bragging rights when you tell them I built it......:)
