This also works for personal cooling here in Texas. I put the boxed squirrel cage fan on something about waist height, then point it where I am working. The only problem is the flow is very limited in area, if I move I loose the blast of air. Next upgrade will be to get one of the misters that hook up to your hose pointed into the inlet of the fan. The evaporating mist will take the temperature down 10-15 degrees. Might be a problem if I am doing serious tight fitting wood work. The wood might swell a little.
FYI if you are in a humid environment this will not work well or at all. It will work best in New Mexico/ Arizona with really dry air.
