Btw a few years ago I got to paddle an old K1 with an itty bitty under hull rudder, was amazed at how effective it was. Rudder was no more than 2" x 3". I was assuming it wouldn't do more than hold the boat staight, was really easy to turn the boat around with that tiny rudder, made a believer out of me. Course that boat was a rocket, very fast, which makes any rudder more effective.
