Randy,

Think about a small dive knife, especially if you paddle saltwater.. You can mount it in any direction to your PFD or (BC for diving). They vary in price from $20 to over $100 for Titanium. They all are rust resistance. For Stainless Steel you still need to take it out of the sheath to dry out. I have a Titanium that I bought in the 1995 that has been used with no rust and no problems... They last forever if you do not lose them. For a larger dive knife you can mount to your thigh for quick access...
