You can freely change the height at the front of the cockpit coaming, and also raise the foredeck substantially to get more foot room, on any of Tom's designs. As long as you don't mess with the offsets for the keel, chine, and gunwales, it will not affect the boat's handling. However, if you raise the cockpit too much, it may look a little funny, and getting the skin tight may be difficult. My Sea Ranger, with 12" height at the front of the cockpit, definitely looked strange. I've since rebuilt it to 10" height and it looks much better.
